April Favourites.

This one took a lot of thinking about! It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was doing my March favourites!! You know the drill by now, so here we go!

Dark Angels Cleanser by LUSH – It’s no secret that I have become a HUGE fan of LUSH and I always have a stock of their bubble bars. My ‘go to’ cleanser is their Angels on Bare Skin which can only be described as divine and I always have a fresh face mask in my fridge for when I need a pick me up. I have always had a problem with blackheads on my nose and nothing seems to shift them – even pore strips are useless! But this month I purchased Dark Angels, which was recommended to me by my sister. Now, I have previously avoided this cleanser because it is supposed to be used by people with more oily skin, which I thankfully do not suffer with but it’ such a good exfoliant that I decided to try it just on my nose and chin. AND ITS AMAZING!!! It really made a huge difference to my nose and lots of those pesky blackheads disappeared. The surface of my nose is a lot smoother and although you can still see some blackheads, the difference is immense. And I am super happy with the result! So now I use a mixture of both Angels to help me get the perfect combination for my skin!

I used to be a big Soap&Glory fan but I started to stop using their products when I discovered LUSH. But then I saw this in Boots recently and just had to get it! It’s the (wait for it….) Total Drama Clean, 5-in-1 ‘Magnetizing’ Micellar Make Up Remover. It’s promises to cleanse, tone and smooth skin and remove make up with ‘no rubbing required’. And it doesn’t lie. Micellar water is supposed to be one of the best things to remove make-up and I have tried several types in the past. But this one is by far the best. It takes very little effort to get rid of even the blackest smoky eyes and the natural cucumber juice and peach fruit extracts make it smell amazing! Literally good enough to drink! I think this one is going to stay in my skincare routine for a long time!

So I have to make-up products for you now and they have both been used lots over the past month. The first is Bourjois’ Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Red Sunrise. It has a lovely glossy finish and is a great colour to wear now it’s getting sunny. What I like most about this product is that it is really easy to work with and can literally be swiped across your lips with little thought and without the bother of using a lip brush which you tend to need to use when working with red lipstick. I throw it in my bag and use it to brighten up my look as and when I feel like it. A true winner!

I am not a fan of the matte look at all and always prefer my foundation to have a dewy finish. When I came across Revolution’s Radiance Palette I just couldn’t resist. It’s honestly beautiful! With three different powdered highlighters, there is something both day and night time looks and the darker colour works great with bronzer. The colours are pigmented but not too glittery and really help add definition to your face. I got mine from Superdrug for a really reasonable price and I will repurchase this in the future without a doubt!

Lastly, I have got back into reading and am making more time to delve into some books! I absolutely loved The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North and thought her story about a man who lives multiple lives was a brilliant concept. It was truly gripping and it’s been a long time since I found a book I simply could not put down – but this is certainly one of them! I’ve also been getting back into my magazines and found myself flicking through Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health and Health and Fitness this month!

What have you been reading recently? Would love to get some books together for my summer reading list! As always, please leave a comment with a link to your favourites post – I love to eye-spy new products to try myself!

Thanks for reading,

Battle of the Nudes.

I’ve been meaning to get this post up for some time but it’s one I just haven’t got round to it! There is a huge craze for nude lips at the moment and I am definitely a follower of this trend! Before this year, I never really wore a lipstick at all, usually just a clear balm, but now I have discovered these shades, I don’t think I will go back to those days!

From left to right:

MAC Creme Cup

Topshop Lips Mink

Rimmel 08 (by Kate Moss)

Maybelline Colour Sensation Tantalizing Taupe

Topshop Lips Armour

I wear every single one of these colours and tend to swap them about depending on my mood. I also have my new Estee Lauder lipstick which I shared here.

Which nude lipsticks are your go to shades? Would love some inspiration for my next purchase! L x

Primark Underwear Haul

I always love to visit Primark at this time of year, when the weather begins to get warmer and the summer clothing is on the shelves. I picked up a few new dresses, some bits for when I move house and lots of new underwear.

It was time for a spring clean – time to get rid of my greying granny pants which have become a bit of a permanent feature during my Bridget Jones phase and time to replace them with some fresh, sexy, girly lingerie to help me on my quest to happy, single freedom.

Primark always seem to have gorgeous underwear at affordable prices but I always struggled to fit into their sizes during my bigger days. Now I have got my healthy lifestyle back on track and find myself back down to the size 10 I am naturally meant to be, I realised I can once again fit into their size range- hurray! I picked up some feminine, spring inspired sets which I know will make me feel confident and sexy and I can’t wait to find an occasion to wear them!

This next set is probably my favourite – it’s beautiful and I love the detail on the straps…

And finally, my super sexy lingerie – this set is gorgeous and makes me feel amazing!!

I also got some plain black and white t-shirt bras for everyday wear at only £2 each! I’m super happy with my new ‘underwear wardrobe’ and think this lingerie will give me the boost I need to feel extra feminine and sexy.

All sets shown above are size 34C and 8/10. Bras are £7.00, Knickers £3.00 and the suspender belt (last set only) £5.00. Thanks Primark Manchester for some great bargains! *This is not a sponsored post. All purchases were made with my own money.

Estée Lauder Hydra Lustre Lipstick

So I wanted to do a quick post before bedtime and share with you a purchase I made today on a trip to Chesire Oaks.  For those of you not from the north of England, Cheshire Oaks is a designer outlet where lots of great bargains can be found. They have lots of outlet stores including French Connection, Levi, Jack Wills, Michael Kors and just so much more! Considering I live only 40 mins away, you would think I would visit on a regular basis but I actually have only been a handful of times and it was a friend who suggested we visited today. After seeing the amazing discounts on offer, I have decided must go there more regularly to indulge in some retail therapy.

Anyway, we stumbled upon a cosmetics shop with stocked with lots of luxury brands like MAC, Clinique, Estée Lauder, Smashbox & Bobbi Brown. I was in heaven! All the products were discounted and they seemed to be older lines or products in less popular shades. That didn’t limit the choice though and there was definitely something for everyone. I could easily have picked up a lot more items but I am trying to spend less money now that my house purchase is coming up. There was however, one thing I just could not resist.

This is the first Estée Lauder lipstick I have owned and it was more the beautiful packaging that caught my eye. Second was the colour- a nude shade which looked very close to my natural lip colour called Cocoa Rose. Now I am a sucker for nude lipstick- in fact I have a post in the pipeline where I plan to share my favourite shades in my nude lip colour collection- but I do believe that every girl should own a ‘my lips but better’ lip product and I think this is the one for me!

The gold metal case feels heavy and luxurious in my hand and I know it will stand the ultimate test of surviving in my handbag! First impressions of the product itself are really positive- I like the colour, it’s nicely pigmented and the formula is beautiful. It’s not drying at all and has a nice glossy finish without being sticky. A winner all round I think!

Obviously, these are only my immediate thoughts, but I’m pretty sure this will stand the test of time.

What is your ‘go to’ lip product? Would love some inspiration for my next shopping trip! Hope you are all well- as always, feel free to leave a link to your blogs/recent posts for me to stop by and have a read!

Lots of love,

L x

I’m trying to be good and save up some money because fingers crossed, I will be a home owner soon and the house I am in the process of purchasing will need some work/decorating when I eventually move in. Get Ready With Me: Date Night

If you have kept up with Diary of a Single Girl the you will know that I have recently been chatting to a guy I swiped right for on Tinder and that he had asked to meet me. Well last night was our date and I thought it might be nice to share what I wore/ used on my face. With me being an anonymous blogger, I couldn’t show you my finished make-up look but I hope this post will be interesting all the same!

On my face I used my Chanel Illuminator Base (a product I absolutely adore!), L’Oreal True Match Foundation, L’Oreal Illuminating Concealer and Rimmel Stay Matte Face Powder. I don’t really contour my face obviously, but I do like to use Bourjois Delice De Poudre Highlighter to contour my nose and add a bit of bronzer round the sides of my face and I highlight the bridge of my nose, chin, under eyes and cupids bow. Finally, I use MAC Blusher in Margin on the apples of my cheeks. Face done!

I prime my eyes with MAC Paint Pot in Vintage Selection and then created a brown/bronze smoky eye look using my 2 favourite eye palettes Urban Decay’s Naked 3 and Smashbox’s Full Exposure. I love the matt colours in that second palette and plan to get lots of use out of it! I also received a free sample of their full exposure mascara when I purchased the eye palette and I absolutely love it and plan to purchase a full size version.

I love my lemonade Lanolips lip balm and wore that to complete my make-up look!

I used my Babyliss Curling Wand to loosely curl my hair. My hair is naturally very thin and if I try to curl it properly then it just falls out, so I tend to stick to slight curls which add volume and make it look a bit thicker.

20150320_194143364_iOS 20150320_194428338_iOS

And here is my outfit!! My dress is from Forever 21, the blazer is from H&M and I wear it all the time. My handbag is from River Island and my Jewellery (if you can see it!) is from Primark. My watch is my most beloved possession and it’s by Michael Kors.

The date itself was okay. We went to a nice bar and had a few drinks  but unfortunately I didn’t feel that spark. I found it really difficult to explain that I wouldn’t be interested in seeing him again, especially because he was so lovely. I suppose that is all part and parcel of the dating game and now I’m back to square one! So excuse me while I get myself back on Tinder and start swiping once again!

Until next time,

Superdrug Haul.

So I nipped out for a Mothers Day card over the weekend and accidentally ended up in Superdrug and filled a basket with bits and bobs I needed to stock up on.

Simple: Kind to Skin range.

I have always liked Simple products and have used them a lot in the past, so when I realised I needed a new moisturiser I decided to see what products they had available. I spotted these products straight away (I’m not sure how new they are but it’s the first time I have seen them!) and I decided to give them a try. I really like the packaging – they feel more high end than other Simple products and the bottles really are beautiful. They seem quite durable and I know they will survive getting knocked around in my make up bag.

Now, the moisturiser is lov-er-ly!! It’s not too thick and has a really silky consistency. It soaks into the skin quickly and doesn’t leave your face feeling damp in any way. The scent is nice and not too strong, a little bit of product goes a long way and my skin already feels less dry and tight after only 2 days of use. I think I will definitely be repurchasing this in the future! I picked up the BB cream because I wanted something lighter than my full coverage foundation to wear during the day now the weather is getting better. This comes in a universal shade and when I first saw it, I thought it looked very orange. Once blended into my face however, it really matches my skin. It does give me a bit more colour than my foundation and so my skin looks more sun-kissed when I have the BB cream on – perfect for Spring/Summer. Again, this is something I think will become a permanent feature in my make up collection! Last up is the Illuminator. This offers SPF protection and is supposed to give your skin a nice dewy look. It contains multi-vitamins and light reflecting minerals and I applied it over the moisturiser. My make up went on beautifully and blended really nicely onto my skin after using this!

Tea Tree Oil

I originally nipped in to Superdrug to get a tea tree product to help get rid of a nasty spot that has appeared in the middle of my forehead. It’s actually very rare that I suffer from spots but this monster wasn’t moving! I got a tea tree stick and some blended oil – and I’m happy to report that this under skin beast looks to be shrinking- hurray!!

Bits and Bobs

T-Zone Pore Strips. Supposed to unclog blackheads on your nose. I have used strips lots of times before but not this particular brand. Had a go with them last night and they didn’t really do much!

V05 Dry Shampoo. I’m usually a Batisse girl, but now I have highlighted hair I can’t use their brunette spray and I don’t like how grey the other sprays tend to come out. So I tried V05 because I have heard it’s more transparent. I’d agree with that. There is still some grey powder but it’s much more easy to brush in and hide than with Batisse.

Cotton Pads. I went for oval one this time because they seem bigger than the usual round ones I get so I’m hoping I will use less at a time!

MUA transparent lip liner. I’m really rubbish when it comes to applying lip colour. I’m not one of these people who preps and powders and lines before I put on lipstick but with me recently purchasing a bolder colour for spring I thought it might be wise to invest in a lip liner!

And that’s my little haul! Have you used any of the above products or have maybe done some similar reviews? Leave me a link in the comments! Thanks – L x

Topshop Matte Lip Bullet: Could This Be Love?

So this morning I have a little purchase to share with you –

Topshop’s Matte Lip Bullet in the colour Could This Be Love?

Last night I went shopping with my little sister for a Mother’s day present. She is a huge beauty fan like me, so we went on our usual hunt for amazing beauty products to coo over. We always pay a visit to Topshop – I just love their make-up, especially their lip products and this will be the 5th lipstick I will be adding to my collection from their store. Now usually, I wear nude colours on my lips. In fact, my sisters have a running joke that I can spot the exact same shade of lipstick no matter what brand I am purchasing from because they say that all the lipsticks I own are the same shade (I can assure you they are not!), I just like a nude lip. Anyway, with the hint of spring in the air, I decided I wanted to be more adventurous and purchased a bright, bold colour to start wearing when the weather gets a little warmer and after a few swatches, I settled with an orange, a colour I never thought I would go for!!

Could This Be Love? is a matte shade but I can say it is really creamy and not as drying as other matte lip products I have tried. It is super pigmented, like unbelievably so. and if you want to, you can easily build the colour. The formula is so intense that I really struggled to remove the colour from my lips using make up remover, so I know it is going to be a good one to wear when you want something to last all day long. Once applied, I didn’t really worry about the colour coming off – it sort of dries to your lips and stays put!

The colour itself is beautiful – a sort of burnt orange. I recently had some blonde highlights in my hair and I think the colour really compliments those – before that I had really dark chocolate brown hair and I don’t think the colour would have suited me then! It bright and fun, but not too in your face and as I said before, you can build the colour to make it as bright as you want. I tried to apply a god coat for the pictures so that you can see it better.

Untitled 2

I wore the colour from the shop and continued to walk around shopping for about an hour or so with it on and at first I felt a little self- conscious and worried whether or not it looked okay, but I think that is just because I am not used to wearing something so bright! Once I got home and looked in the mirror -I fell in love with it all over again!

At only £8, I think it is a really good one to have in the collection and you find it at topshop.com

Happy Saturday!
